Scifest............ and the winner is
Yesterday all of the T.Ys and a few first years went to the Scifest competition in the Institute of Technology in Tallaght.. Scifest is very like the BT Young Scientist but it is easier to get into!! We all left school really early at 8:15 am and arrived at the venue around 9am. We started to set up our stands and put up our poster and report book. The judges started to go around and ask us alot of questions about our project to make sure we knew it all. After lunch the judges went around to each stand to ask the final questions and all the students went to varies lectures. I went to 'Fighting Crime with Science' and ' Exploding Jelly Babies' I really enjoyed both the talks. After the judges had finished and the lectures were over we had to take down our displays and we found out the winners at the closing ceremony. St.Wolstans won alot of the awards which was amazing. Well done everyone who took part. I really enjoyed the trip and the experience.

Party
On Friday last, Banba threw a Party....... It was in the second year mall in front of the Staff Room Door!!!! There was lots of food, Cake and Drinks. There was lots of loud music and random dancing. The thing was it was in front of the staff room door so we had to be careful who walked out!!! It was a really good start to the long weekend.

Gaisce Trip... At least we came back in one piece.. Just about :)
On Friday the 27th April at 3pm anyone in T.Y taking part in the Gaisce award set off on their 25km hike. We all had classes until 2:40 pm and then put our luggage on the bus and off we went. We arrived at Kippure Lodge, Co. Wicklow at around 4pm and straight away got put into our houses, We put our luggage(Mainly food) into the houses and left for the hike at 4:30pm. I had loads of clothes on and a hiking backpack because it was meant to rain. We were walking through this field and I thought this is not so hard but that was only the field that joined us to the mountains !!
We started the 13 km hike up mountain and it was really hard and I couldn't imagine doing it for four hours. It was really cold at first but it suddenly got really warm. Every few minutes my ankles keep twisting. Eventually everyone started talking and encouraging each other so it was fun and we all struggled together!!
We arrived home around 9ish and started preparing our own dinner which was really exciting because everyone's parents cooked their dinners usually. We had pizza, pasta, cheese and tomato sauce. For dessert we had to have sweets of course. We had bags of sweets and didn't even eat half of them but hey we had a party on the bus home...
We didn't get to bed until 2 am and we had to be up by 7:30 am for another four hours of hiking. Elizabeth, A girl in my house decided it would be fun to wake everyone up at 5 am to watch a Movie!!! So lets just say everyone was knackered by 7.30am.
We set off on our hike at 9am and arrived back by 2 pm when we had lunch and then set off to the high ropes courses. To be honest I really didn't want to do them because I just wanted to go home !! I really enjoyed the high ropes though and we arrived home at 6pm. I really enjoyed this trip and think it was the high-light of T.Y.

Retreat to Glendalough
My class, Fódla and four girls from Banba went on a outdoor retreat to Glendalough in Co.Wicklow. We left at 9.05am all wrapped up. The bus journey wasn't that long and we just talked about what we expected the retreat to be like. When we got to Glendalough it was windy but also sunny. We were introduced to a Father and Sister who led us around the retreat. Not long after we started walking it started lashing and we had to walk in it too !! We seen many things on the retreat like St.Kevins monatry and his cross. I learned alot on the retreat like live life to the full, Take timeut to reflect reguarly and don't always go for the material things in life.
after the Retreat Ms.L asked us all to pick something the father said to us an make a picture out of it. Mine was to live life to the full so you have no regrets!!!

Swim A Mile
Last Friday 20th April all the T.Ys went to the N.A.C to take part in Annual Swim a Mile with A Swim. Everyone was really excited and so was I. We left School at 9:30 am and arrived in the N.A.C at 10 am. Everyone got dressed and then arrived at the poolside. My mam and dad were both there to sort everyone into their lanes. I started the swim off by diving in first and I started swimming my mile....
Everyone was so enthusiastic and couldn't wait to start. When I finished my mile in 18:30 minutes I was so happy because it was a P.B. No one else was finished so I started another mile. When everyone else was finished they all got Tee shirts and Bags. Anyone who swam the mile on their own got a Swim a Mile cap:)
We all got dresses really fast because we were going to Blanchardstown for Food.
We counted the amount of miles we swam and it totalled to around 42 miles, beating the previous record by 17 miles!!
I think everyone enjoyed themselves and I was so happy that everyone got involved because it meant alot to me for my Year to take part in this event.
